IT’S A PEOPLE’S WORLD: AND I LOVE IT

‘All animals are equal, but some animals are more equal than the others’- George Orwell, ANIMAL FARM

People are the same everywhere, just like George Orwell’s animals. Yet, they perform differently sometimes, leaving us amazed at their extraordinariness in the ordinary times. I have started liking to interact with common, and unknown people. I feel comfortable and can strike a conversation with anybody to the extent of boring them. This ‘quality’ was a discovery for me as well. I prefer not to look at my mobile when travelling and observe fellow travellers, to understand human mind and being. I like to look at the roads and observe people walking, shopping, eating, drinking, cooking, chatting, waiting, standing, sitting, climbing, fighting, loving, lazing, crying, laughing, reading, loitering, spitting, working, toiling, grooming, readying, and of course sleeping.

Mumbai is an amazing city. People here can perform all activities while on the move. They work and multi task and do varied things…and yet never get exhausted. They are a power house and use 24 hours to the fullest and enjoy every moment of it. They find joy and buddies as fellow travellers. They help each other, they fight for their rights, they are alert, they give quick response, they get things done for them, they make their likes and dislikes known, they dress up the way they like, unknown people will share tables and grant others the same. Mumbaikar is a unique loveable breed, one loves to dislike when u are pushed into it. Yet, into their this ordinariness and cliched life lies the uniqueness that makes them different from other people in the country.

Imagine a life without these lives around you. It scares me, depresses me, makes me nervous. I like to see faces around me---be it smiling or frowning. Faces make me feel I exist, their expressions give me energy and lift my mood. To live the day preserve energy for the next day. So people get out, even if you are not working, move out, travel alone, get your ‘me’ time, talk to your self, think about what you like, what is your favourite food, clothes, colour, movie, actor etc. Think about yourself as one with the people around…..try to feel equal….. try to belong…..it is not bad.
